The 2011 update to DV_indis v2.0 has added over twenty new functions and technical studies to our suite for a total exceeding sixty indicators, systems and environmental filters! Full descriptions of the sixty-plus DV_indicators are available here. Also added to the XL Add-in for 2011 are Varadi’s Normalized Lap/Gap studies, and enhanced Reports, which allow you to quickly compare performance among all the indicators in the DV_indis suite. [
Don’t have a fancy charting or back-testing platform? If you only have Microsoft Excel, you can still get your feet wet and likely significantly increase your testing productivity one way or the other with our incredible XL tool sets. The Add-in is only available to DV_indis Research subscribers! Once you have a system you are pleased with, you can trade it using XL, or Tradestation or Ami-broker. Some of the key features of the DV_indis XL Add-in are outlined below:
a) Easy Access Control Panel – The study control panel pictured to the left is easily accessible from your XL add-ins menu bar, automatically initializing the creation of new workbooks with the values and basic system back-test statistics for the selected indicator(s) and ticker(s). Historical price data and indicator values maybe automatically downloaded and generated for either the selected symbol, or for your own custom data set!
b) Custom User Defined Functions – Want to test custom settings with the Varadi studies? Each indicator is available for custom settings research, becoming part of your Excel formulas just like its native functions.
c) Download Historical Data – The Add-in may also be used to easily download and update historical Open-High-Low-Close-Volume data for daily, weekly or monthly bars -plus- real-time sales.
d) Custom Panels of Experts – Quickly create your own “panel of experts” strategies using the “DV_Panel” feature to line up and combine several indicators very quickly.
e) Performance Reports – Even adaptive indicators have their ups and downs. Use the “DV_Reports” macro to quickly see how the various indicators are performing for your ticker of interest.
f) Normalized Gaps/Laps – What are the odds that an opening gap will close? Using Varadi’s unique normalization techniques, you can find out the answer to sharpen your intraday odds.
g) Baseline Strategies – The picture below shows an output screen of the simple back-test feature using the infamous “DVO” on the S&P500 index with different parameters (buy if the DVO is less than 0.5 and reverse for shorts above 0.5). This particular example also demonstrates the recently discussed ‘detrending technique‘ from the CSS Analytics blog. Each of the tradable indicators has an associated customizable system just like this.

The DVixl Excel product provides basic charting, email signal generation, and back testing reports for the classic DV_indis. Also included is the “DV Expert Advisor“, providing a directional outlook for the ticker of your choice on the short-, intermediate- and long-term horizons. (Note: Of course we use “Advisor” figuratively, the publishers are not registered investment advisers; indicators are not tailored to individual situations and risk tolerances; and all traders are therefore responsible for their own investment decisions.)
